5 killed in two explosions in Assam

Suspected ULFA militants’ triggered two explosions in the Lower Assam town of Nalbari.

GUWAHATI: Suspected ULFA militants’ triggered two explosions in the Lower Assam town of Nalbari. The explosion killed five people and left several injured. The casualty count is likely to increase.

There are reports of the third explosion however the same is not confirmed by the police. The first explosion took place outside the police station. Police sources added, “ The explosion took place around 9.45 am on Sunday. We had intelligence inputs that ULFA is likely to carry out violent activities prior to Protest Day on November 27. ULFA observe this day as protest day following launching of military operations on it and declaration of ULFA as banned outfit,”.

Sources added, “ ULFA was also looking to avenge to the arrest of two senior leaders selfstyled foreign Secretary Sasha Choudhury and Finance Secretary Chitrabon Hazarika,”.

ULFA militants blew up wagons of tanker train carrying high-speed diesel (HSD) and petrol early this week.
