Five suspected Jamiyat-e-Mujahidden activists from Bangladesh have sneaked into West Bengal through Bagdah in North 24-Parganas district.
The names of these five Mujahidden activists were also available with intelligence agencies who are now busy tracking them down. It is learnt that the intelligence agencies have informed the state home department about the development which has alerted the North 24-Parganas police. Vigilance at all the Indo-Bangladesh border check posts in North 24-Parganas district has been intensified following the alert, the police said.
Meanwhile, a meeting was held at the CID headquarters in Bhabani Bhavan on Friday which was attended by the director general of the state police, N Mukherjee, senior state police officials and superintendents of police of most districts. It is learnt that the meeting was convened to review the law and order situation in the state in general. The recent terror attack at Delhi High Court was also on the agenda of Friday’s meeting, a senior state police official said.
