42 candidates file nominations for four Rajasthan Assembly seats
A total of 42 candidates have filed their nomination papers for the four Assembly constituencies going to bypolls in Rajasthan on September 13.
Four each candidates of the Congress and the BJP were among the 42 candidates in four constituencies of Surajgarh, Weir, Nasirabad, and Kota (south), an Election Commission official said.
Scrutiny of papers will take place tomorrow and the last date of withdrawal would be August 30, he said. On Surajgarh Assembly seat, the BJP has fielded Digamber Singh, former health and medical minister, as its official candidate, the party sources said.
There are now 14 candidates from Surajgarh, 9 from Weir, 7 from Nasirabad, and 12 from Kota (south) Assembly seats which included four each of BJP and Congress parties.
Of these 42, three candidates have filed their papers yesterday, and thirty nine today, the official said. Bypolls are necessitated in the four Assembly seats of Rajasthan which fell vacant after the sitting MLAs were elected to the Lok Sabha.
BJP Legislators Sanwar Lal Jat, Om Birla, Santosh Ahlawat and Bahadur Singh Koli represented Nasirabad, Kota (south), Surajgarh and Weir Assembly constituencies respectively and they were elected to the Lok Sabha.
