Guwahati: Around 4.2 million BJP karyakartas are expected to fan out across Assam, which has been rocked by violent protests since December, to clear misconce ptions on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and to quell what the BJP claims is a 'misinformation campaign on the CAA.'

It has convened a meeting of all its workers on January 4 in Guwahati from where the campaign will be launched.

President of Assam unit of BJP Ranjit Kumar Dass said: "We will counter the misinformation campaign as rumours are being spread that owing to CAA around 1.30 crore people will enter Assam and this will be a threat to the state’s demography. There are also rumours that 54 lakh illegal foreigners are waiting along the Indo-Bangla border to enter Assam after the bill is passed."
