About 35 per cent of 3.92 lakh voters cast their votes in first four hours of polling in by-election to three assembly constituencies of Haryana.

CHANDIGARH: About 35 per cent of 3.92 lakh voters cast their votes in first four hours of polling in by-election to three assembly constituencies of Haryana.

In Punjab, 26 per cent of 1.32 lakh voters had exercised their vote for Amritsar South assembly seat by-election.
Official sources here said polling was on peacefully in Adampur, Indri and Gohana constituencies of Haryana and Amritsar South assembly constituency of Punjab.

The good voter turnout till noon was due to pleasant weather in the region.
A total of 81 candidates are in the fray for the four constituencies.

Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhajan Lal, Dharampal Singh Malik and Rakesh Kamboj are seeking re-election from Adampur, Gohana and Indri after they were disqualified from the membership of the state assembly.

The three were disqualified under the anti-defection law after they joined the Haryana Janhit Congress-BL (HJC-BL) formed by former Chief Minister's son Kuldeep Bishnoi.
