NEW DELHI: The government today said it has 30 proposals for setting up mega food parks across the country of which 13 were sanctioned in the last three years.

Replying to a question in Lok Sabha, Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal said the issue of providing Change of Land Use (CLU) for mega food parks was a state subject and assured that the procedures would be further simplified.

Badal said there was a mandatory condition of at least 50 acres of land for the purposes but such big plots were not easily available, thus leading to the exercise taking a lot of time.

Meanwhile, replying to another query, Badal said that with about 40 per cent food wastage, there was huge potential in Food Processing and her ministry has made it a mission to reduce 50 per cent wastage in the next two years.
