RIYADH: An Indian has been killed and three others were injured in fresh mortar attacks in Saudi Arabia's Jizan region by Houthi rebels, the second Indian to die in three days due to heavy shelling.

The incident occurred yesterday at Samta town in the region when Houthi rebels bombarded an area close to Samta General Hospital, Saudi Gazette reported yesterday.

Vishnu, who hailed from Kerala and worked with a cell phone shop in Samta, killed in the incident, it said.

Munir Ahmed, Saghir Ahmed and Waleed Ahmed, who belong to Jammu and Kashmir, have sustained injuries in the shelling and were recuperating at the hospital.

Besides the three Indians, two Egyptians and a Yemeni were also injured.

An official termed yesterday's shelling as the worst in two days.

On Friday, an Indian was killed and two others were injured in the same region.

Farooq, a mechanic from Kerala, was among four killed when Yemeni Houthi rebels attacked the Samta hospital early Friday morning.

According to reports, the attack was part of Yemen's retaliatory measures against Saudi Arabia over Riyadh's unabated military campaign in the Arab country.
