2G scam: Raja's CBI custody extended by 2 days
CBI, in its remand plea, stated that Raja has not been cooperating with the authorities in conducting the probe.
However, the agency is not interested in questioning the two other accused -- former telecom secretary Siddhartha Behuria and Raja's personal secretary R K Chandolia. The duo has been sent to judicial custody till February 22.
CBI, in its remand plea, stated that Raja has not been cooperating with the authorities in conducting the probe. CBI sought his extension on the ground that he is yet to divulge details about the kickbacks he had allegedly received from various telecom operators.
Besides, the agency suspects that the evidence could be tampered with since the accused is highly influential.
Raja's counsel, Ramesh Gupta, opposed the extension of custody, claiming CBI has seized all the documents and "there is nothing new to be recovered". He also alleged that CBI has not disclosed to the court about the outcome of the probe. The CBI counsel parried the query by pointing to the case diary that has been submitted to the court.
