2G scam probe: Karim Morani taken to hospital for treatment of heart ailment

NEW DELHI: Bollywood producer Karim Morani, an accused in 2G spectrum case, was today taken by Tihar Jail authorities to the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital here for a check-up.

Morani, Director of Cineyug Films Pvt Ltd, appeared two and half hours late before Special CBI judge O P Saini as he was taken for the medical check-up as he is under treatment for heart ailment called Ectasia in which patient suffers from blockage of arteries.

"His condition is deteriorating and whenever he comes in contact with dust, his blood pressure shoots up," Sandeep Kapoor, counsel for Morani, said adding he was taken to the OPD of DDU hospital.

The court had yesterday considered his medical condition and asked the Tihar Jail authorities to shift him to a cell less dusty and cooler.

The court also reserved its order on Morani's plea that he be allowed to sign documents related to mutual funds and other bank documents and asked his counsel to give details of Morani's bank accounts to CBI.
