2G scam: CBI to name Kanimozhi in additional chargesheet
The chargesheet, to be filed in the special CBI court, has the potential of triggering a process of political realignment in Tamil Nadu.

NEW DELHI: In a move that is certain to cast a shadow on the political situation in Tamil Nadu, the CBI will, on Monday, name DMK Rajya Sabha member Kanimozhi, her stepmother Dayalu Ammal and Sharad Kumar, stakeholders in the Kalaignar TV, besides six others, including A Raja, in a supplementary chargesheet in the 2G spectrum allocation scam. Kalaignar TV is a venture promoted by the state's first family.
The chargesheet, to be filed in the special CBI court of OP Saini, has the potential of triggering a process of political realignment in TN, and may put the DMK's ties with the Congress under strain.
The chargesheet will cover the DB Realty-Kalaignar TV money trail and other attempts to park the kickback money. It may name the promoters of the Mumbai-based DB Realty (Shahid Usman Balwa and Vinod Goenka), Cineyug Films ( Karim Morani) and Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables (Asif Balwa and Rajiv B Agarwal), besides A Raja.
Of the nine persons likely to be named in the chargesheet, Raja, the Balwas (both Shahid and his brother Asif), Goenka and Agarwal are already behind bars.
The chargesheet may revolve around the detection by the CBI of a transaction in which over 200 crore was transferred from DB group to Kalaignar TV, confirming a quid-pro-quo deal between A Raja and members of the Karunanidhi family, and promoters of DB Realty, who had floated their telecom arm, Swan.
"Investigations have also revealed that in furtherance of the conspiracy, Dynamix Realty, a partnership firm of DB Realty Ltd and other DB group companies, paid 200 crore to Kalaignar TV Pvt Ltd during December 2008 to August 2009, following a circuitous route through Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables Pvt Ltd and Cineyug Films Pvt Ltd (DB group holds 49% equity in it)," the probe agency had said in its first chargesheet filed on April 2.
