2G scam: CBI begins probe into Sadiq Batcha's death

NEW DELHI: The CBI on Tuesday registered a case and began its probe into the mysterious death of Sadiq Batcha, a close aide of former telecom minister A Raja who is in jail in connection with the multi-crore 2G spectrum allocation scam.

A team in Chennai took over the case dairy from Tamil Nadu police and will soon visit Batcha's house. Sources said Batcha was a crucial link in the case as he could have given important leads about the money trail of 2G spectrum scam.
