2G scam: BJP to attend Speaker Meira Kumar's all-party meet on JPC

The BJP has been spearheading the demand for a JPC and has turned down Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's offer to appear before the public accounts committee.

NEW DELHI: The BJP has announced that it will attend the all-party meet to be convened by Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar to end the deadlock over formation of joint parliamentary committee ( JPC) to probe the 2G scam.

The BJP has been spearheading the demand for a JPC and has turned down Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's offer to appear before the public accounts committee (PAC).

BJP leader Sushma Swaraj, who is also the leader of the party in the Lok Sabha, confirmed party's participation in the meet.

Speaker Meira Kumar has called for the all-party meet on December 30 in a fresh bid to end the logjam over JPC probe.

This is the second effort being made by the Speaker to end the political crisis over spectrum allocation.

Her earlier effort to reach a consensus failed to yield any positive result.
