2G case: Supreme Court appoints senior advocate Anand Grover as Special Public Prosecutor
The Supreme Court court had on August 12 asked Venugopal to suggest three names of eminent advocates for appointment as SPP.

Grover would be taking the place of senior advocate U U Lalit who has been elevated as a judge of the Supreme Court.
A bench, headed by Justice H L Dattu, accepted the name suggested by senior advocate and CBI counsel K K Venugopal in the matter saying he knows the bar very well.
The apex court had on August 12 asked Venugopal to suggest three names of eminent advocates for appointment as SPP.
The bench, which opened the sealed envelope, said Venugopal has suggested only one name and it was accepting his proposal to appoint Grover as SPP to conduct the trial in the cases arising out of 2G scam.
"Grover would be incharge of the proceedings in place of former senior advocate representing CBI and ED," the bench said.
The bench had clarified that other members of Lalit's team would continue to assist the trial court in its proceedings.
