A 24-hour helpline 'Saheli', aimed at providing support to the female victims of domestic violence and other crimes, was launched today.

JAMMU: A 24-hour helpline ' Saheli', aimed at providing support to the female victims of domestic violence and other crimes, was launched today.

The helpline has been initiated by Aditi welfare India Charitable Trust.

"The women in distress can call her Saheli at 9419106905, Saheli would work for the welfare of the women and empower the underprivileged women, who are the victims of domestic or social crime," Aditi Sharma president of the trust told reporters after the launch of the helpline.

She said that 'Saheli' would also help the female folk in giving them an opportunity to work in creative sectors to earn their livelihood.

She said that the helpline would provide an opportunity to the women in distress to discuss their grievances related to family or social and will also help rescue the victims of domestic violence.

The helpline number will also provide them with counselling regarding various other women-oriented schemes of central and state government.

She said that her Trust would take help from the legal experts so as to provide legal help to the female victims, who have no means to support their case in courts.
