Twenty two students of Chattra Parishad, students wing of Congress were arrested for showing black flag to Prime Minister Narendra Modi today.

KOLKATA: Twenty two students of Chattra Parishad, students wing of Congress were arrested for showing black flag to Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. Modi was on his way to the Netaji Indoor stadium to attend the centenary celebration of Gaudiya Mission.

The students were waiving black flags and shouting slogans protesting against the JNU incident when the convoy was passing through the area. The students were stopped near strand road and taken to Lalbazzar, head quarter of Kolkata Police.

"About 20 supporters of Congress have been arrested at the crossing of Strand road and Auckland road for staging a snap demonstration," said a senior police official of Kolkata Police.

The arrested students include chhatra Parishad leader Somdeep ghosh, Salim, Shreya Haldar and Saeed Quershi, said a senior Congress leader.
