2021 election: Those who don't get party ticket must not take it personally says Assam CM

GUWAHATI: With Assam going to election next year, Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that those not getting party tickets must not take it personally and must remember that they are working for the party and only one from the constituency will get a ticket.

Sonowal while attending BJP’s two-day long executive meeting in Karimganj said, “ BJP will give ticket to one after due diligence however those who do not get a party ticket must remember that they are working for the party. Those not getting tickets must not take it personally.”

He asked the BJP workers to take the work done by the government in the last five years to people across the state.“State BJP president Ranjit Kumar Dass has worked tirelessly and has ensured BJP’s victory in Bodoland territorial council (BTC) and Tiwa Autonomous council. Even though I was party president, I have not worked as hard as Dass did”.


Assam BJP has set a target of winning 104 seats out of 126 assembly seats in 2021 assembly polls.

Sonowal said that in the last five years the government has worked for all round development of the state. “Series of measures has been taken to curb corruption.”

He said that poaching of one horn Rhino has come to halt with the government taking strict action. “Assam’s forest cover has increased.”

Sonowal also highlighted the success of Advantage Assam: Global Investors’ Summit in attracting investment to the tune Rs 79,000 crore to Assam out of which Rs 55,000 crore are under different stages of implementation.

The chief minister asked the party workers to fan out and take to people various schemes and development measures taken by the Central and state government. “During the COVID-19 pandemic we have worked as team Assam and ensured that we combat the pandemic.”
