Thousands of lotuses will be dropped in the Ganga at a few of the popular ghats as part of the celebrations, which will also include display of live results on giant screens and distribution of big ladoos and other sweets etc at several public locations across the city.
Modi is scheduled to participate in a roadshow as well as Ganga aarti, besides possibly visiting selected temples, on Saturday. According to a party spokesperson, Modi is most likely to arrive by late afternoon on Saturday and then proceed with the activities lined up for him.
The activities will be spread over two days partly because the state government has banned all victory marches on counting day. So Modi will participate in an official celebration on Saturday, while the traditional victory celebration on Friday will be much more restrained, local BJP workers said.
BJP’s in-charge for UP and Modi’s confidante Amit Shah will be present through the day along with his team at the official counting booth at Pahadiya mandi in the city. Other party leaders, who have arrived in the city, will witness the counting at the party’s election campaign office in Sigra locality.
