Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has hinted that the state may not appeal against the NIA court verdict that exonerated all the accused in the 2008 blast case as he claims that the case was a "conspiracy by the UPA government against Hindus".

"We will study the judgement in detail. Apparently, the way things are coming out...this was a conspiracy. We will not blame the police. The (then) UPA government had done this as part of a conspiracy. They had put pressure on the police (to implicate the accused). The UPA government coined 'Hindu terrorism- saffron terrorism'. This was a false narrative done during elections and to appease minorities," Fadnavis said.

"There were so many terror attacks happening in different parts of the country (during the UPA era) and after 9/11 the term Islamic terrorism (was coined)... So, as an answer to that and as an appeasement policy, the UPA government did a conspiracy of claiming there was saffron terrorism, and the police were brought under pressure," he said.
