JAISALMER: Angry over non regularisation of their services by the government, about 200 Home Guard jawans have sought permission to commit suicide from Prime Minister and Rajasthan Chief Minister as mark of protest against non-fulfilment of their long pending demand, Home Guards' union said today.

State President of Home Guards' Union J S Rathor claimed that in support of their demand to regularise their services, 199 Home Guard jawans have written letters with their blood to the Prime Minister and Rajasthan Chief Minister.

They have also sought permission to commit suicide (Iccha Mritiyu) as their services were not regularised, Rathor said here.

He said Home Guards are deployed in emergency situations like strikes, election, flood, and law and order related problems, but they are not made regular employees neither by the Central government nor the state government, Rathor said.

He said the union has also filed a case in support of their demands in the Rajasthan High Court recently.

The Rajasthan Human Rights Commission had also directed the state government to regularise the services of Home Guard jawans, but in last six months, the BJP government had done nothing, he alleged.

When contacted, Commandant Home Guards Sangram Singh told PTI that it was a volunteer service, and demands of Home Guard jawans were not right, and the court has rejected it.
