GUWAHATI: Troops of Guwahati Frontier of Border Security Force (BSF) rescued 960 cattle heads from being smuggled to Bangladesh through the different locations of border districts Dhubri, South Salamara (Assam) and Coochbehar (West Bengal).

During operations against trans-border crimes, BSF troops apprehended 20 smugglers. In a statement, the BSF said that during the pandemic, BSF troops of Guwahati Frontier had foiled attempts of cattle and narcotics smuggling, and seized cattle worth Rs 61,77,652/- from the Indo-Bangladesh international border area.

The apprehended smugglers were handed over to respective police stations and seized cattle heads are being handed over to police and Dhyan foundation district Barpeta (Assam).


In three separate operations, BSF troops apprehended a drug smuggler and seized 66 kgs of ganja, 875 bottles of Phensedyl and 6 cattle heads from bordering area of village Bharbanda, Cooch Behar (WB) oin Monday and Tuesday.
