A landslide at Mirik in Darjeeling claimed lives of at least 20 people. Around a dozen people are still missing after the massive landslide.

KOLKATA: A landslide at Mirik in Darjeeling claimed lives of at least 20 people. Around a dozen people are still missing after the massive landslide in Kalimpong area.

According to sources, heavy incessant rainfall in the region has resulted in landslide. The NDRF team is on its way while local civic police volunteer force started rescue operation .

"Anguished about loss of lives in Mirik/Kalimpong. Home secretary already in North Bengal... Am monitoring situation closely and will rush there after meet in Murshidabad," West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee posted on her Twitter handle.
