193 file nomination papers for Nagaland assembly polls

A total of 193 candidates filed their nominations for the 60-seat Nagaland Assembly elections scheduled for February 23.

KOHIMA: A total of 193 candidates filed their nominations for the 60-seat Nagaland Assembly elections scheduled for February 23.

Officials in the Nagaland Chief Electoral Office said, 193 candidates belonging to eight parties, including the ruling Naga People's Front, Congress, and independents filed nomination papers in 12 electoral districts of the state.

In the Dimapur district, which has five assembly segments, 17 candidates filed nomination papers.

Seven candidates filed nominations for the two seats in Peren district.

A total of 26 candidates submitted their nominations for Kohima district, which has 7 seats.

The scrutiny of the nomination papers will be taken up tomorrow and last date of withdrawal is on February 9.
