17 engineeers suspended in UP

The UP government has suspended 17 engineers posted in Lucknow Development Authority on charges of using poor quality material in various projects.

LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh government has suspended 17 engineers posted in Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) on charges of using poor quality material in various projects in Gomti Nagar Extension Scheme.

The poor quality work was detected during an inspection by Housing Minister Nasimuddin Siddiqui yesterday, LDA officials said adding that among those suspended included two executive engineers and eight assistant engineers besides junior engineers.

Mayawati had earlier suspended LDA vice chairman B B Singh and chief engineer D R Yadav during her first inspection of her Bhim Rao Ambedkar Park, her dream project, hours after taking oath as Chief Minister on May 13 on similar charges.
