Itoo said out of 15095 centres operating in Kashmir, 494 centres were completely damaged due to floods while 724 suffered partial damage.

SRINAGAR: More than 1400 anganwari centres were fully or partially damaged by the devastating floods in Jammu and Kashmir, Minister for Social Welfare Sakina Itoo said.

"The floods in Kashmir have damaged 1218 anganwari centres with 209 centres damaged in Jammu division," she said after chairing a meeting of Social Welfare department here.

Itoo said out of 15095 centres operating in Kashmir, 494 centres were completely damaged due to floods while 724 suffered partial damage.

"Similarly, in Jammu division, out of 13514 centres, 20 centres have been fully damaged while 189 centres were partially damaged," she added.

The Minister said Integrated Child Development Scheme centres have suffered loss to the tune of Rs nine crore on account of damage to non-nutrition items across the state.

Itoo instructed that makeshift arrangements be made for the damaged centres.

She also directed all social welfare field functionaries to set up awareness camps and disseminate information about health and hygiene to the people, especially children and women.
