RAMESWARAM: Fourteen fishermen were arrested by Sri Lankan naval personnel today for allegedly violating the International Maritime Boundary Line.

"Their three boats were also seized and they were taken to Kangesanthurai and later shifted to Jaffna," Joint director of Fisheries Subburaj said.

"They were arrested while fishing near the Sri Lankan coast," he said, adding it was not clear why they were shifted to Jaffna.

"One boat was from Rameswaram. It is not immediately clear from which districts the other fishermen were," he said.
