12 Assam Rifles personnel injured in militant attack in Manipur

IMPHAL: At least 12 Assam Rifles personnel were injured in an IED attack by unidentified militants at Kambiron in Manipur's interior Tamenglong district, official sources said today.

The incident took place yesterday when the security men were returning to the headquarters, the sources said quoting delayed reports from the district.

The militants had exploded improvised explosive devices(IED), it said.

The injured were taken to the Army hospital at Leimakhong, about 25 km from here.

The condition of six of the security men was stated to be serious by the hospital authorities.
