11K securitymen for Andhra bypolls

KADAPA: Over 11,000 security personnel have already been deployed for the smooth conduct of the Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly bypolls scheduled to be held on May 8.

Announcing this here at a press conference, Rayalaseema Range IG Santosh Mehhra said apart from the paramilitary forces, they have positioned 110 circle inspectors, 1114 sub-inspectors, 430 head-constables and 4,000 constables for poll duty. The assistance of police personnel from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu is also being taken, he added.

Meanwhile, till date, Rs 3.8 crore unaccounted cash and 321 unauthorised vehicles have been seized in the constituency, the IG said.
