SRINAGAR: Troops killed 11 infiltrators near the LoC in Karnah in an encounter that continued for around 36 hours. A JCO was also reported killed and two soldiers injured during the operation which is still in progress as troops are searching the area.

Army sources said the troops detected suspicious movement of terrorists near Roshan Post and immediately the area was cordoned and within minutes the contact was established.

The encounter continued for three days. However, reports said that neither of the slain militants have been identified so far. Reports said that enforcement have been sent to the belt immediately and the entire belt is being scanned.

Police sources identified the slain JCO as Subedar Dhiyan Singh. Reports said additional deployments in the area led to additional restrictions on the movement of the people.

Though the occasional infiltrations are taking place all along the LoC, this is the first time in recent past that such a huge group of infiltrators were killed in a single encounter.
