11 injured in TC-CPI(M)clash over opening of party office

Eleven persons were injured when Trinamool Congress and CPI(M) activists clashed in WB's West Midnapore district on Saturday.

MIDNAPORE: Eleven persons were injured when Trinamool Congress (TC) and CPI(M) activists clashed in West Bengal's West Midnapore district on Saturday, police sources said.

The clash between the activists of the two rival political parties started when TC supporters went of open a party office at Cherua village, sources said.

Trinamool Congress leader Rafiq Ahmed claimed that as soon as their party supporters went to open the party office at Cherua village armed CPI(M) cadre attacked them.

Two of the injured have received bullet wounds, police sources said adding six of the seriously injured have been admitted to Midnapore Medical College Hospital.

A huge police force alongwith the District Armed Police (DAP) have been deployed in the area, sources said.

There was tension in the area but the situation was under control, police sources added.
