Over 10,000 border residents are staying in camps after migration from 57 odd villages in wake of cross border firing and ceasefire violations.

10,000 border dwellers evacuated from Kathua district
JAMMU: District administration has launched "Mission Hifazat" for evacuation of over 10,000 border residents in the wake of cross border firing along the International Border in Kathua district.

"Mission Hifazat was launched by the administration on 6th October in Kathua district for evacuation of more than 10,000 border residents and their accommodation in relief camps", an official spokesman said today.

Shelter camps for border migrants were provided all facilities and special services are also being provided. Camps for livestock health are also being organised on daily basis, he said.

Over 10,000 border residents are staying in the camps after migration from 57 odd villages in wake of cross border firing and ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops.

As many as 8 people have been killed and 94 others injured in shelling and firing by Pakistan along International Border and LoC in Jammu, Samba, Kathua and Poonch districts of Jammu region since October 1.
