1,000-acre Aravali plot for Baba Ramdev?

NEW DELHI: Yoga guru Ramdev is likely to announce a big project in Faridabad on Tuesday spread over 1,000 acres. Sources said the founder of Patanjali group has got huge chunk of land in Kot village in Aravalis in Faridabad where a major institute on yoga or a healthcare facility may come up.

Ramdev’s spokesperson refused to comment on this. “What is the hurry? You should wait for the announcement on Tuesday. Ramdev is holding a big yoga event at Faridabad where lakhs of people will participate and BJP president Amit Shah will be the chief guest. “Seven world records to be set at Faridabad Yoga camp,” an official invitation said.

It can be recalled earlier this year speaking at Happening Haryana event Ramdev had announced his plan to invest Rs 5,000 crore to set up a university and an international health centre.

Registry in Kot and some other villages in Aravali has been suspended for some years by the deputy commissioner following a 2012 Supreme Court judgement. However, it’s learnt that several registrations of land happened in 2014-15.

Land consolidation of Kot village was stopped in 2012. It was restarted in 2013 and then apparently stopped again. In a case in the National Green Tribunal, the Haryana government had said that consolidation in Kot had stopped in 2013. For Roj ka Gujjar, it had said that there was no agricultural land in the village and therefore there was no need of consolidation, and subsequently it was stopped in 2014.

The recent reports have now raised a question whether to facilitate any project, the government will use the consolidation again for partition of the hill areas, most of which are forests.
