In 2014, the new NDA ministries took time to settle in. Five years later the message is clear — no time must be lost and continuity and pace of governance must be maintained. On the directions of the PMO in March, all departments and ministries were told to be ready with 100-day governance plans to ensure that the new government gets moving as soon as it takes over. EXTERNAL AFFAIRS MINISTRY KEY CHALLENGES:
- Relations with Iran; trade ties with the US, including GSP; Modi-Trump meet in Osaka to prepare ground for addressing trade deficit issue
- SCO & G-20 summits within a month
- Ties with China, Sino-Pak ties, CPEC-BRI, trade deficit and differences over WTO key challenges. Modi meeting President Xi

- Meeting with Russian president Vladimir Putin at SCO summit
- PM visiting Maldives, Lanka to better ties
- Delhi to closely follow Afghan situation
- Modi to attend G-7 summit in August

HRD MINISTRY
- National Education policy report will be submitted to the ministry on May 31. After inviting comments from the public, Cabinet approval will be sought by mid-July
- Ministry to restart plans for a single higher education regulator; bill for a higher education commission has already been prepared
- Institute of Eminence status to 24 more institutes

HOME MINISTRY
- Implementation of Assam’s NRC
- Restoring normalcy in J&K
- Approval for counter-radicalisation policy
- Clearing amendment to NIA and UAPA Act

DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATIVE REFORMS
- Presentation scheduled at PMO on June 1 to launch a Good Governance Index for states
- Drive to make all government offi ces paperless to be launched in July
- An upgraded Centralized Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) to be launched in next three months

CULTURE MINISTRY
- PM to inaugurate Aga Khan Palace museums
- PM’s museum at Nehru Memorial Museum and Library
