MUZZAFARNAGAR: Ten persons, including a former District Probation Officer (DPO) and Branch Manager of a nationalized bank here, has been booked for alleged misappropriation of funds for Widow Pension Scheme, an official said today.

Police registered a case yesterday against 10 people including ex-DPO M L Sahu, Branch Manager of a nationalized bank Ajay Singh for alleged misappropriation of Widow Pension Scheme funds amounting to lakhs of rupees, Deputy Collector Gyanprakash said.

Following a complaint in this regard, an inquiry was initiated and the case has been registered on the basis of its report, he said.

A case under IPC sections 420 (cheating), 409 (breach of trust by public servant), 467 (forgery), 469 and 471 has been registered and investigation is underway.
