GANDHINAGAR: The Dalit community organised a protest rally in the capital city of Gandhinagar on Sunday.

The families of the victims of police firing in Thangarh, Surendranagar have been camping in Gandhinagar for last 18 days and have been fasting to demand justice for their kin. Intrestingly, just ahead of the rally on Sunday, the state government announced that it will form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe into the firing incident that had claimed three Dalit lives in Surendranagar in 2012.

Rejecting the stance of the state government, the families demanded that nothing short of a CBI inquiry would satisfy them. The victims also sought that the initial inquiry report of the then Social justice department Secretary Sanjay Prashad be made public.
