Three Israelis, Eliyahu Bezalel, Sheikh Ansari and Dr Lael Anson Best who have won the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman, called on the PM.

​ A busy day for PM Narendra Modi in Israel
NEW DELHI: Israeli leader of Opposition Isaac Herzog called on PM Modi on Wednesday. “Stressing on consensus on strengthening India-Israel relationship...Herzog calls on PM Narendra Modi,” MEA spokesperson Gopal Baglay tweeted. PM Modi also met President Reuven Rivlin.

Three Israelis, who have won the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman, called on the PM. Eliyahu Bezalel hailing from Chennamangalam in Cochin has distinguished himself as an eminent agriculturalist and became the first Israeli of Indian origin to receive the award in 2005. Sheikh Ansari, who manages the Indian Hospice in Jerusalem, a unique Indian connection to the Holy City, was honoured with the award in 2011.

In 2017, Dr Lael Anson Best, a cardiothoracic surgeon, was conferred the award.
