During the review, the Cabinet Secretary emphasized the need for ensuring a smooth, transparent and secure conduct of the re-examination through close coordination among all concerned stakeholders. The NEET re-examination is scheduled to be held on 21st June 2026.
The Cabinet Secretary stated that “The Central Government, State Governments and District administration are working together in close coordination, to ensure smooth conduct of the NEET re-examination. The full might and weight of the law will fall on any person trying in any manner to distort, disrupt or tamper with the integrity or smooth conduct of the re-examination.”
Shri Somanathan reviewed the arrangements with the Secretaries of the Central Government and relevant agencies on 1st June 2026. Subsequently, on 4 June 2026, he also held a review meeting with the Chief Secretaries of the State Governments to assess the preparedness and progress of the arrangements.
These meetings are aimed at ensuring effective coordination, strengthening preparedness and maintaining the integrity and credibility of the NEET re-examination process.

Tripura: Two militant groups launch rail-road blockade over Rs 250-crore package demand
The blockade was instituted by the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and the All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) to disrupt transportation on the National Highways and train services of both Central and State governments.
An NLFT leader said, “We had a meeting yesterday with Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma whereby we reached agreement on some of our demands, but two of our major demands were not met at that time, which required us to stage a blockade on rail and roads”.

Stone pelting reported on Lucknow–New Delhi Shatabdi Express near Firozabad, 2 arrested
An incident of stone pelting on the Shatabdi Express (Train No. 12003), operating between Lucknow and New Delhi, was reported on June 11 at around 19:18 hrs when the train was approaching Firozabad station in the Prayagraj Division, ANI reported, citing the Ministry of Railways.
As per ANI, the Railway Ministry said that two individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident. Officials added that the accused were identified with the help of CCTV camera footage, which played a key role in tracking and apprehending them.

Tughlakabad fire: 3 dead, 2 critical after smoke traps residents
Three people, including a 22-year-old man and two women, were killed and two others remain in critical condition after a fire broke out in a five-storey residential building in Delhi's Tughlakabad Extension in the early hours of Friday, according to Delhi Police, as per ANI.
Police said a PCR call regarding the incident was received at Govindpuri police station at 2:24 am. In a coordinated rescue operation, eight residents trapped by heavy smoke were evacuated and shifted to Safdarjung Hospital and the AIIMS Trauma Centre. Further investigation is underway.
Tughlakabad extension fire: Blaze from parked vehicles engulfs six-storey building
A fire that broke out among vehicles parked on the ground floor of a residential building in Delhi's Tughlakabad Extension spread through all six levels of the structure, prompting a major rescue operation in which eight people were evacuated, according to Delhi Fire Service officials, ANI reported.
Assistant Divisional Officer Yashwant Meena said the fire originated in three scooters, two motorcycles and a bicycle parked in the building's ground-floor parking area. While the ground, first and second floors were completely gutted, the upper floors sustained partial damage. Firefighters rescued two girls trapped on the terrace after cutting open a locked gate and shifted them to hospital with the help of CATS and PCR teams.
