Nepal Flash Floods Live Updates: The death toll from devastating floods in Nepal has risen to 162, with 468 tourists, mainly foreigners, reported out of contact. At least 37 tourists from Tamil Nadu and 77 members of the Isha Foundation are also reported missing.

A sudden, massive flood swept through two Nepal districts bordering Tibet, killing four people, leaving 400 others missing and causing extensive devastation in settlements along the river including to a dozen hydropower projects.

The flood surged through the Bhote Koshi River at around 9 am (local time) coming from the Tibet side affecting Rasuwa and Dhading districts bordering Tibet and Nuwakot district, southwest of Kathmandu, officials said.

Houses, roads and power projects were swept away in Nepal, while officials in Tibet said they feared "major casualties" with some missing in the county of Gyirong after a mudslide hit a border land crossing.

Initial reports suggested that an earthquake in the area could have triggered an avalanche and caused the floods, Nepal's foreign minister Shisir Khanal told the country's parliament on Wednesday, ‌local media reported.
