Breaking News Live Updates: Students in Patna marched from Gandhi Maidan towards Bihar Chief Minister’s residence on Tuesday, demanding the cancellation of the 70th Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination and the recruitment examination for 1,799 sub-inspector posts.

The protesters were stopped at JP Golambar during the march. They are seeking cancellation of both examinations as part of their demands.

Separately, Saudi Arabia issued emergency alerts for several cities on Tuesday, including AlUla, Abha, Jazan, Jeddah and Yanbu, according to Saudi Civil Defence announcements carried by state media and posts on X. The alerts came a day after the Saudi-led coalition said Houthi attacks had injured 13 civilians in the kingdom.

The coalition said on Tuesday that the civilians were injured in attacks by Iran-aligned Houthis on the Saudi cities of Khamis Mushait, Abha and Taif on Monday. The latest emergency alerts did not, by themselves, indicate that fresh attacks had taken place in all the cities named.

The Houthis said on Monday that they had launched dozens of missiles and drones at a military airbase in Khamis Mushait in southern Saudi Arabia. They said the strikes targeted aircraft hangars, radar systems, runways and ammunition depots and were carried out in retaliation for Saudi airstrikes in Yemen.

US nominates new envoy to Saudi Arabia

US President Donald Trump has nominated Republican congressman Wesley Hunt, a US Army veteran, as his new ambassador to Saudi Arabia -- a post that had been left vacant amid the war with Iran.

Hunt's nomination was sent Monday to the US Senate, which must vote on his confirmation.

"Having served in the region both in combat as an Army officer and for two years as a diplomatic liaison in the Kingdom, I understand the strategic importance of the partnership between the United States and Saudi Arabia and the profound responsibility of this position," Hunt said in a post on X.

The nomination comes at a sensitive time for Saudi Arabia, a key US ally, after fresh attacks by Yemen's Iran-backed Houthis on Saudi soil opened a new front in the Middle East conflict.

The group -- fighting the Saudi-backed, internationally recognized government in Yemen -- last week seized control of Yemen's Red Sea coast and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, which has become vital as the wider US-Iran war chokes the Strait of Hormuz.

Transparency for a court is not simply a matter of open doors and public hearings...public trust, in turn, is not the same thing as public approval, and the difference matters a great deal. A court does not earn trust by being liked or by handing out the outcomes people wanted. As rightly pointed out by some of the learned, eloquent speakers, that the kind of social media or other influences, the courts need to keep themselves away from them

Saudi Arabia issues emergency alerts for four cities after Houthi attacks injure 13

Saudi Arabia issued emergency alerts for several cities on Tuesday, including AlUla, Abha, Jazan, Jeddah and Yanbu, according to Saudi Civil Defence announcements carried by state media and posts on X.

The renewed attacks come as fighting in Yemen has intensified, raising concerns that the wider Middle East conflict could spread further and put additional pressure on global oil supplies. Gulf Arab states have also postponed planned talks with Iran amid the escalation.

The developments follow an attack on Saudi Arabia on Friday that Riyadh blamed on Iran-backed fighters in Iraq. The strike knocked out the kingdom's east-west oil pipeline, a route that allows Gulf oil exports to bypass the Strait of Hormuz, which is currently blockaded.

The Houthis have also made rapid advances in Yemen in recent days, including the capture of Perim Island at the mouth of the Red Sea on Friday. Saudi Arabia has led a coalition fighting the Houthis since 2015, although the conflict had largely quietened under a ceasefire in recent years before fighting reignited this month.
