Exit Poll Updates Election 2024: Pollsters predict landslide victory for Modi 3.0, with some forecasting '400-paar' for NDA sarkar

Following an extensive Lok Sabha elections 2024, spanning six weeks, the second-longest general election since 1951-52, the time has arrived for Exit Polls. Five exit polls predict a significant victory for the ruling BJP-led NDA: Republic Bharat- P Marq (359), India News- D-Dyanamics (371), Republic Bharat- Matrize (353-368), TV 5 Telugu (359), and Jan Ki Baat (362-392). Additionally, the exit polls foresee NDA's dominance in Karnataka and Maharashtra, apart from a sweep in Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, while forecasting a rout for the Left-led alliance in Kerala.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 73, and his party, the BJP, are widely anticipated to secure a third consecutive term in power. Meanwhile, the Congress, challenged by electoral setbacks and a series of defections, stands as part of the Opposition bloc INDIA, confronting the BJP.
In the 2019 elections, the BJP clinched victory with 303 seats, and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) bolstered the tally to 352. On the other hand, the Congress garnered 52 seats, and the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) totaled 91.
This time, the BJP has set an ambitious target of 370 seats and aims to surpass the 400-mark with the support of its allies. With 543 seats in the Lower House of Parliament, the majority threshold stands at 272.
Exit polls play a crucial role in India's electoral landscape by providing early predictions of election outcomes before the official results are announced. These polls are subject to stringent regulations to ensure fairness and prevent influencing voters. During the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, exit polls will be a key focus for political analysts and the public, offering important forecasts while adhering to ethical standards.
As the world's largest democratic exercise wraps up on Saturday, anticipation will build for the results, which are scheduled to be announced on June 4.
Notably, the Election Commission has banned the conduct, dissemination, or endorsement of exit polls from 7:00 am on April 19 until 6:30 pm on June 1, aligning with the voting period for the Lok Sabha elections and four state assembly elections.
On Friday, Congress representative Pawan Khera announced that the party would not engage in exit poll debates, describing such discussions as futile and attention-seeking. He emphasized that the party plans to engage in meaningful discussions after June 4, once the official election results are declared. Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav urged party members, officials, and candidates to stay vigilant and not be swayed by exit polls purportedly disseminated by the BJP.
Exit Poll 2024: What are exit polls?
Exit polls provide early predictions of election outcomes by surveying voters shortly after they cast their votes. In India, while the Election Commission prohibits conducting exit polls during the voting period, their results can be published 30 minutes after voting concludes.
Exit Polls 2024: When can you check exit poll results?
The release of exit polls is scheduled to commence at 6:30 PM on June 1, 2024.
Exit Polls 2024: Where can you see exit poll results?

Exit poll results: How did 2019 exit polls fare?
Most exit polls forecasted a victory for the BJP-led NDA in 2019, a prediction that materialized as the coalition won a total of 353 seats. Among these, the BJP alone secured 303 seats out of the 543 contested. In contrast, the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) secured 90 seats.
Exit poll results: How 2014 exit polls fared?
In 2014, the majority of exit polls correctly gauged the national sentiment, forecasting a robust performance for the BJP-led NDA, which ultimately secured a substantial majority with 282 seats.
Exit poll results: How did 2009 exit polls fare?
In 2009, the UPA exceeded exit poll expectations by securing 262 seats, surpassing even the most optimistic projection of 205. Likewise, in 2004, exit polls failed to anticipate the NDA's defeat to the UPA.
2024 Lok Sabha Elections Opinion polls vs exit polls
Opinion polls serve as a means to gauge pre-election sentiments by collecting data from a segment of the population regarding their intended voting preferences. These surveys offer initial insights into potential election outcomes and provide a glimpse into the prevailing public mood. In contrast, exit polls are conducted on election day immediately after individuals have voted, directly soliciting information about their voting choices. They offer an immediate snapshot of the actual election results. In essence, while opinion polls predict potential voter inclinations, exit polls reflect real voting behaviors.
Both opinion and exit polls undergo scrutiny regarding their accuracy. Opinion polls may be influenced by sampling methods and timing, potentially failing to comprehensively capture the electorate's final decision. Although exit polls are generally considered more reliable, they are still susceptible to inaccuracies if participants are untruthful or if the sample lacks representativeness. Therefore, both types of surveys require careful evaluation.

Exit Poll 2024 Live Updates: The opportunistic INDI Alliance failed to strike a chord with the voters. They are casteist, communal and corrupt, says PM Modi in a series of tweets
- I can say with confidence that the people of India have voted in record numbers to reelect the NDA government. They have seen our track record and the manner in which our work has brought about a qualitative change in the lives of the poor, marginalised and downtrodden. At the same time, they have seen how the reforms in India have propelled India to being the fifth largest global economy. Every scheme of ours has reached the intended beneficiaries without any bias or leakage: PM Modi
- The opportunistic INDI Alliance failed to strike a chord with the voters. They are casteist, communal and corrupt. This alliance, aimed to protect a handful of dynasties, failed to present a futuristic vision for the nation. Through the campaign, they only enhanced their expertise on one thing- Modi bashing. Such regressive politics has been rejected by the people: PM Modi
- I would like to applaud each and every NDA Karyakarta. Across the length and breadth of India, often braving intense heat. I compliment them for meticulously explaining our development agenda to the people and motivating them to come out and vote. Our Karyakartas are our greatest strength: PM Modi
