Breaking News Live Updates: Speaking at GFF 2026, Nandan Nilekani outlined three tokenisation pilots covering dairy, warehouse receipts and asset securitisation. The first seeks to tokenise a cow along with information about it to facilitate credit. The second involves tokenising warehouse receipts for commodities such as rice and wheat, allowing loans against inventory. The third is a marketplace for securitising assets. Nilekani said all three pilots use the same underlying technology architecture, designed to work across different asset types and use cases.

Former NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant said India’s approach has been to remain “multialigned”, pursuing multiple FTAs while maintaining engagement with Russia and China. He also warned that US control over Iranian crude could give it influence over nearly one-third of the world’s fossil fuel resources.

Speaking at GFF 2026, Infosys chairman Nandan Nilekani said job creation in an AI-driven economy should come from millions of small companies rather than a few large firms. GFF 2026: Nilekani says agentic AI can drive demand for tokenised assets

Speaking at GFF 2026, Infosys chairman Nandan Nilekani said tokenisation of regulated assets such as bonds and certificates of deposit requires an ecosystem designed not just for issuance but also for usage and liquidity. He said public blockchains could allow multiple liquidity pools, buyers and sellers to participate, while encryption and data security would remain key technical considerations.

Nilekani added that agentic AI could help generate transaction volumes by enabling AI agents to initiate transactions, creating demand for tokenised assets. He said bringing agents and tokens together could help build the scale needed to justify such platforms.
02:06:35 PM IST, 10 Sep 2026

The agent can package the token and offer it to different kinds of lenders and get loans. So, agents are complementary to tokenization.

GFF 2026: Nilekani says token issuance alone won’t drive activity

Speaking at GFF 2026, Infosys chairman Nandan Nilekani said simply issuing tokens is not enough to build a functional tokenisation ecosystem. He pointed to stablecoins as an example of tokens gaining adoption because they serve practical use cases such as cryptocurrency markets and cross-border transactions, and are sometimes used as a substitute for currencies in countries with weaker currencies.

The theory is that if you want to accelerate tokenization across all asset classes for all use cases, if you have some underlying technology and rules which can bring in industrial strength, population population class, you know, capability, you can use that rapidly. And so we have done that.
