Tharoor said the INDIA bloc had gathered to send a message to constitutional authorities that the voting rights of citizens must be protected.

Anti SIR Protest Live Updates: Why is INDIA bloc holding 'Chalo Dilli' march against SIR?
The Opposition has accused the Election Commission of facilitating the deletion of voters' names through the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, alleging that the process undermines free and fair elections. The mobilisation, named 'Chalo Dilli', will begin with a march from the Minto Road–Connaught Place junction at noon, followed by a rally at Ramlila Maidan.
The Opposition has repeatedly raised the issue of alleged 'vote chori', claiming that the SIR exercise has resulted in large-scale voter deletions and could disenfranchise eligible voters. INDIA bloc parties have also approached President Droupadi Murmu and the Supreme Court over the matter. The alliance has appealed to students, youth, women, workers and civil society organisations to join the protest, with the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), led by Abhijeet Dipke, also extending support.
The march comes a day after INDIA bloc leaders held a symbolic 'public impeachment' of Kumar at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's residence on October 31. Former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar presided over the proceedings, while Rahul Gandhi delivered the concluding remarks. The resolution accused the CEC of facilitating alleged electoral manipulation and undermining the Election Commission's independence, and called for his removal. The exercise was symbolic and did not constitute a formal constitutional impeachment.
