Zomato ‘Mehmaan Mode’: What is the feature suggested to Deepinder Goyal, how will it work and what are the features

Zomato has introduced a new feature which is well suited especially for this festive season. The new feature is called 'Mehmaan Mode'. One user on Ayushmaan Agarwalla proposed this idea on LinkedIn and Deepinder Goyal replied very positively.

What is Zomato’s 'Mehmaan Mode'

It is a new feature rolled out at Zomato where an individual has an option to hide food prices while checking the menu of the restaurant. This is especially helpful when guests arrive at someone’s house and they go through the menu.

With this new feature, guests can order more comfortably as they cannot see the prices of the particular dish.

How Zomato’s ‘Mehmaan Mode’ Could Work

After all the guests have placed their orders, the host can take back the phone and proceed with the payment. The feature could help prevent uncomfortable situations where guests feel conscious of food prices while ordering at someone else’s home.

LinkedIn User Suggests ‘Mehmaan Mode’ For Zomato

In his LinkedIn post, Agarwalla proposed a new feature for Zomato, writing, “I have a small feature recommendation. Zomato should have a simple 'mehmaan mode'.”

Deepinder Goyal Confirms Feature Rollout

Goyal welcomed the suggestion and said the feature would be introduced within the week. Responding to Agarwalla, Goyal wrote, "Thanks for the suggestion. Shipping it this week. Wish you the happiest festive season,"

Why Is The Feature Needed?

Agarwalla explained that he had increasingly observed hosts handing their phones to guests so they could choose and order food themselves.

Highlighting the potential benefit of the feature, he wrote, “No price, no embarrassment and no hesitation. Especially useful in the festive season,”

The proposal also sparked a discussion online, with users sharing their opinions on the suggested feature. While many appreciated the idea, others raised questions about how practical it would be.

One user welcomed the idea, writing, "Amazing suggestion, will surely avoid all the possible awkwardness."
