Zerodha founder Nikhil Kamath's video on content creators' earnings goes viral
Zerodha's Nikhil Kamat sparks debate after an old video discussing income transparency with content creators resurfaces. While some advocate openness, others argue that revealing earnings in India's digital space invites scrutiny and negativity.

Although the video is dated, a snippet has resurfaced, prompting a discussion on Twitter. User @laurelsudeep shared the snippet and commented, "Nikhil Kamat uploaded a great episode with top content creators about 13 days ago. Nas goes on for 2 min, telling all the numbers, including his profit. Asks the rest of content creators to be transparent. All 3 say NO! Says a lot about a lot of the people and the space in India."
The tweet initiated a debate, with many content creators expressing their opinions on whether income information should be disclosed.
Influencer and entrepreneur Ankur Warikoo shared his perspective, stating, "Never understood this fetish of hiding a company’s revenue or profits, except ‘nazar lag jayegi’. I can understand personal income. But what will you do hiding your company’s performance? If anything you will learn something from the feedback you get."
However, content creator Abhishek Bhatnagar disagreed, saying, "From the old blogging times and then to today, changed social media. Revealing numbers does not help anyone including the ones aspiring to be like the creators. A little estimation of what one may earn is always a better idea than exact numbers."
Another Twitter user commented, "Can’t blame them too. Indian audience is pretty brutal. There will be mostly discussions about their money etc if they reveal it. They’re shamed if they share it and shamed if they don’t. Weird place to be in."
"India mein you can't flaunt your earnings. Subscribers will think he turned egoistic and will leave. These guys know their game well," quipped another.
