YouTube Shorts to have new ad format; Know how it would impact creators, viewers
Video streaming service YouTube has announced new formats for advertisers for the Shorts content format.

YouTube videos and shorts are one of the most popular on video streaming platforms worldwide. Here’s what we know about the new ad formats of YouTube Shorts.
What the new ad format means for YouTube Shorts creators:
The change of ad formats for YouTube Shorts is good news for influencers and YouTube channel owners. Now, creators will be able to upload a 60-second or shorter vertical video along with their other assets.
Google now wants to include YouTube Shorts in its video reach campaigns. The company is also adding "in-feed video ads" to video reach campaigns for users' audiences across YouTube.
Google said in a blog post, "Video reach campaigns use Google AI (artificial intelligence) to serve the best combination of ads, and improve your reach and efficiency on YouTube".
What is the YouTube Shorts Select Run?
The YouTube Select Run of Shorts lineup has also been introduced by the video streaming platform. It means that users' advertisements will show up next to the most well-liked and relatable videos in the Shorts feed of viewers. This will ensure that their brand / channel name remains visible and at the top, as viewers browse their ‘most recent videos’.
Google further explained in the blog, "Advertisers can also breakthrough at the beginning of a viewing session with the new First Position on Shorts, piloting across YouTube Select. Your advertisement will be the first one a viewer sees when they launch YouTube Shorts and begin watching."
This feature would enable creators to make a lasting impression in a setting that is highly immersive, said Google.
