YouTube down for many users across the world, netizens express frustration
Alphabet-owned YouTube was down for more than 320,000 users in ‌worldwide on Wednesday, according to outage tracking website Downdetector.com.

There were 321,958 incidents of people reporting issues ⁠with the social ‌media platform, as of ⁠0818 p.m. ET, according to Downdetector, which tracks outages by collating status reports from multiple sources.

YouTube TV had 8,923 issue ‌reports on the website, while Google had 2,694. Google ⁠did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.


The outage sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with users expressing frustration, confusion and humour over the disruption. While some joked about rewatching old content as a fallback, others speculated about possible causes behind the downtime.

Several posts questioned how a platform of such scale could go offline, while a few shared unverified claims linking the issue to unrelated events. The hashtag related to the outage quickly began trending, as thousands took to social platforms to vent, share memes and seek updates on when services would be fully restored.
