Young angler's surprising catch: Fish with human-like teeth found in Oklahoma pond

Fishing enthusiasts worldwide often encounter extraordinary catches, leaving them amazed by the diversity of aquatic life. Recently, Charlie Clinton, a young American angler, had a remarkable experience while casting his line in a neighborhood pond. He unexpectedly reeled in a fish with human-like teeth, garnering attention and curiosity.

The unique fish turned out to be a member of the pacu family, closely related to piranhas and native to South America. Despite their razor-toothed appearance, pacus pose no harm to humans. The discovery shed light on a concerning trend - some people keep these exotic fish as pets but release them irresponsibly into local ponds and rivers when they outgrow their tanks, leading to their presence in freshwater ecosystems across the United States.


The specific species of the pacu caught by Clinton remains unknown, but ODWC officials state that these fish can grow up to 3.5 feet in length and weigh up to 88 pounds.

Interestingly, this is not the first instance of creatures with human-like teeth arousing curiosity. In 2022, a photograph of a fisherman holding a bizarre aquatic creature, resembling a crab with four protruding teeth, caused a stir online. The unique features of this unusual crab, discovered off the coast of Western Russia, were shared on Instagram by photographer Roman Fedortsov.
