The Lahore Safari Zoo hopes to sell off 12 of its lions - including three females - in the first week of August to raise money. The zoo has more than 40 lions. The lions could be sold to private housing schemes or animal husbandry enthusiasts
Lahore's safari zoo, is spread over a sprawling 142 acres, and houses a host of wild animals. The administration is going ahead with the sale of lions, the report said, because managing them is proving to be difficult and expensive.
The zoo administration regularly sells off a few lions to meet expenses, the report said, adding that 14 lions were sold off last year to citizens on the excuse of limited space.
