Yesterday IPL match winner RR vs SRH: How Rajasthan Royals' Vaibhav Suryavanshi knocked out Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2026 Eliminator?

Rajasthan Royals (RR) produced one of the most destructive batting displays of IPL 2026 as they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 47 runs in the Eliminator at Mullanpur yesterday. The biggest talking point of the night was 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who smashed 97 runs off just 29 balls and completely dismantled the SRH bowling attack. His fearless innings included 12 sixes and helped RR race to 125 runs inside the first eight overs.

Who won yesterday's match?

RR vs SRH turned into a high-scoring blockbuster as Rajasthan Royals piled up a huge total after being asked to bat first. Rajasthan got off to a flying start, with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi taking charge early. In just the third over, he hammered 23 runs off SRH captain Pat Cummins, pushing RR to 45/0 in no time.


He kept the pressure on and reached a stunning half-century off just 16 balls as Rajasthan raced to 63/0. By the end of the powerplay, the Royals were cruising at 80/0.

Sooryavanshi also made headlines by breaking the record for the most sixes in an IPL season, going past Chris Gayle’s long-standing mark of 59 sixes.

“(Do you celebrate the happiness or is it more like ‘what’s gone is gone, now think ahead’?) When we win, we just take the positive intent forward and move on to the next match. And we try to win the next match in the same way and reach the finals," he said after the match.

Even after producing one of the greatest innings ever seen in an IPL playoff match, Sooryavanshi admitted he keeps his thinking simple before games. “(What’s your mindset going into the next game?) I do think a little bit, but not too much. I just try to play the game I’m in and not overthink. But if I feel there’s something I need to work on, then I look at that.”

Near-record century as RR dominate power phase

The 15-year-old teen sensation continued his brutal hitting and smashed a sensational 29-ball 97, smashing 5 fours and 12 sixes before finally getting out in the eighth over.

He fell just 3 runs short of what would have been the fastest IPL century ever, but had already put Rajasthan in complete control at 136/1 at the halfway stage.

Middle order keeps the momentum going

Yashasvi Jaiswal struggled to get going and was dismissed for 29 off 29 balls by Shivang Kumar, but RR still crossed 150 by the 11th over.

Dhruv Jurel then took over the charge, smashing 17 runs off Cummins in an over. He brought up a quickfire fifty in just 20 balls during the 14th over, before falling the very next ball for a 21-ball 50 (5 fours, 3 sixes).

At 15 overs, Rajasthan were flying at 207/3.

Late wickets, but RR finish strong at 243/8

Riyan Parag added a quick 26 off 12 balls before falling to Praful Hinge, who kept picking wickets at regular intervals.

RR eventually lost wickets in clusters towards the end — Donovan Ferreira (12), Dasun Shanaka (5), Jofra Archer (4), Nandre Burger (1) — while Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten on 12.

Rajasthan Royals finished their innings at a massive 243/8 in 20 overs.

SRH bowlers struggle despite wickets

For Sunrisers Hyderabad, Praful Hinge stood out with 3/54, while Eshan Malinga (1/40), Shivang Kumar (1/19), and Nitish Reddy (1/12) also picked up wickets.
