Holi is around the corner and as you celebrate with friends and family, it is important to take care of your electronics like smartphones, TWS earbuds and smartphones from getting damaged due to water, Gulal, etc. Holi celebrations involve colors and water, which can pose a risk to smartphones if they’re not adequately protected. During the festivities, smartphones may be exposed to water, colored powders, and sometimes even harsh chemicals. These elements can seep into the device, potentially causing corrosion, malfunction, or permanent damage.

Here are top tips to protect your devices:

Zip-lock bags

Zip-lock bags are an affordable and easily accessible solution for protecting your devices during Holi. Available through both online and offline retailers, you can simply place your phone, TWS earbuds, and other gadgets inside a bag to shield them from water, Gulal, and dust particles.

Change the way you unlock the phone

Switch to pattern or PIN lock from biometric authentication methods. This will allow you access to the phone even when your face is covered in colour.

Protect the ports

Water and colors can easily seep into smartphones through ports, buttons, speaker grilles, and even the earpiece. To protect your device, you can use tape to cover openings such as the speakers, microphone, charging port, and headphone jack (if available). Additionally, remember to switch your phone to vibration mode to prevent any damage to the speakers after applying the tape.

Avoid charging your phone when it is wet

Avoid plugging in your phone for charging when it's wet or has been submerged. Instead, wait until the device is completely dry before connecting it to a charger. Using a hair dryer or blow dryer is not recommended, as the delicate components inside your gadget can be damaged by hot air.

Even if your phone comes with an IP rating and sealed ports, prolonged exposure to water can still compromise its integrity.

Similarly, refrain from carrying power banks while playing Holi. Most power banks aren’t water resistant and may be damaged or become hazardous if they come into contact with water. Although modern phones often have an IP rating indicating resistance to water and dust, these tests are conducted using clean water and only for limited durations. Remember, water damage is typically not covered under warranty.
