Woman shares remote work hack for long train journeys
Arunika Yadav documented her journey to Mysore in an Instagram video, explaining that staying connected was the biggest challenge when working from a moving train. Her setup included Airtel, Jio and BSNL SIM cards, a dedicated phone for internet connectivity and a wired connection to her laptop.

Three SIM cards keep her connected
Yadav said she carries three SIM cards because a loss of connectivity from one network could be offset by another."If you are a remote worker traveling from a train in India, this is the slightly ridiculous setup that got me through six hours of train journey. Hi, I'm Arunika, and today I'm taking my laptop on a six-hour train journey to Mysore. To work properly, the biggest problem is the internet. So I carry three SIM cards: Airtel, Jio, and BSNL, because if one disappears, the other has to be there. And I also keep a separate phone just for internet, so I'm not draining my main phone all day. I plug it straight into my laptop, turn on the VPN, and that's my setup," Yadav said.
She said the arrangement allowed her to continue working during the journey, including attending scheduled meetings.
"Look at the internet speed, guys! For this journey, it did the job. I worked, attended my meetings, and kept going while the train was moving."
Remote worker discovers train food delivery
Yadav also said she discovered that passengers can order food to their seats through Swiggy or Zomato while the train is stopped at a station."And then I learned another useful trick: you can directly order food at your train seat via Swiggy or Zomato, and it actually shows up."
Summing up her travel setup, she said it consisted of a backup network, a separate phone for internet access and a window seat.
"So my train work essentials are pretty simple: backup network, separate internet phone, and a window seat for this. And six hours later, Mysore showed up. Not a bad way to get through a workday."
‘Probably overkill’
In the caption accompanying the video, Yadav acknowledged that her arrangements might appear excessive."My train-work setup is probably overkill… until the first network disappears. Three SIM cards, a dedicated internet phone, wired tethering—and apparently you can get lunch delivered during a station stop too. Save this setup for your next long travel day," she wrote.
